Privacy Policy


 

The information Starfish Greathearts Foundation (Starfish) collects about you helps us to understand more about how our site is used and how we can improve it, and enables us to send you the communications that interest you.  

We are committed to safeguarding your privacy online and otherwise. Starfish reserves the right to periodically change this Privacy Policy.


1. When you are on the Starfish website and are prompted to input any information, you will be sharing your personal information with Starfish.


2. When you visit Starfish's website, we are able to collect information about which pages you have accessed, when and the visitor IP address.

Furthermore visitors to our website can be asked to volunteer information about themselves through participating in surveys, forwarding their email and/or postal addresses to be on our mailing list for future communications, informing us of their preferred means of communication, requesting to be on a specific mailing list, or if they ask to sponsor a child or support us by giving a donation or purchasing an item from our on-line brochure.  We may, for example, keep a record of your name and gender, e-mail address, postal address and telephone number.


3. The information we obtain helps us to understand better how our site is used. Your contact details are used to send you any communications and information you request, together with any other information about Starfish we believe may be of interest to you.  If you do not want to receive any further communications from Starfish, please email us at ukinfo@starfishcharity.org.  Any banking or credit card details you provide will be shared with your bank/credit card company and/or otherwise as necessary to process your payment(s).


4. Starfish relies on the accuracy of your personal information.  We are working on ways to make it easier for you to review and correct the information that Starfish maintains about you.  In the meantime, if you change your email address or are aware that any of the other information we hold about you is inaccurate or out of date, please email us atukinfo@starfishcharity.org.


5. When you give Starfish personal information, we take all reasonable steps to ensure that the information will be stored and processed securely, in accordance with this policy and with the Data Protection Legislation.


6. To protect the privacy of the children we work with, photographs and names used on this site are not necessarily those of the actual children concerned.


7. Where you have indicated that you would like to be contacted by us, any or all of the personal details submitted by you may be held and used by Starfish or Starfish agents, partners, appropriate third parties or licensees.


8. Your details may accordingly be transferred to any country in which SGF operates including to countries outside the EEA which may not provide levels of protection in respect to personal data as high as those which apply in the EEA.


9. Currently, personal data is held by Striata and GivenGain in South Africa. Striata provides pro bono secure e-communications and GivenGain provide a secure online database platform.  Starfish works to ensure compliance of EEA standards amongst is partners but does not accept any liability for any lapse in Striata's and GivenGain's security.


10. For legal reasons, we must maintain a record of all contributions you make to Starfish.  We also need to hold personal information to administer Gift Aid declarations and Deeds of Covenant.  We will release personal data where we have a duty to do so.


11. You are entitled to request a copy of the information Starfish holds about you and to ask for any inaccuracies to be corrected.
